Today's Gold Analysis: 06 November 2026

⚡ Flash Alert: Top Market News06 Nov 2026 · 9:50 AM IST
⏰ Next big event: US October Nonfarm Payrolls at 7:00 PM IST
  1. Gold slips from a two-week high. Spot gold is near $4,040 after touching $4,146.63 on Thursday, a level last seen on October 20. Mixed
  2. Payrolls are the main event. The US jobs report is due at 13:30 GMT (7:00 PM IST) and the market is cautious before it. Mixed
  3. Oil rebounds. Crude rose more than 1% on Friday, which revives inflation worries and higher-for-longer rate talk. It is still set for a sharp weekly drop. Gold ▼ pressure
  4. Dollar and yields are near recent lows. The dollar index is around 101.7 and the US 10-year yield is near 4.84%, both helped by the midterm result. Gold ▲ support
  5. Fed hike bets stay high. Futures priced about an 81% chance of a December hike as of November 4. CPI is due on November 10. Gold ▼ pressure
  6. Dhanteras in India. MCX December gold is near Rs 1,42,421 per 10g, down about 1.2% in early trade. The rupee opened at 94.49 per dollar. India

Bottom line: Gold is consolidating after a big week. The payrolls number at 7:00 PM IST decides the next move.

Spot gold is trading near $4,040 per ounce on Friday morning, giving back part of Thursday's jump to a two-week high of $4,146.63.

My read: Gold had a strong week as the dollar and yields fell after the US midterms. Today the move is cooling. Oil is bouncing, and that keeps inflation and rate-hike worries alive. The market is also waiting for payrolls. Nobody wants a big position before that number. I see this as consolidation, not a trend change. A firm jobs print can push yields up and gold lower. A weak one can bring the dollar down and help gold.

Key levels

LevelPriceWhy it matters
Resistance 2$4,147Thursday's high, the highest since October 20
Resistance 1$4,100Round number gold failed to hold today
Current$4,040Spot at about 9:46 AM IST
Support 1$4,000Psychological level, just below spot
Support 2$3,870Recent low, before this week's rebound

Scenarios, not forecasts: A strong payrolls print could send gold toward $4,000 or lower. A weak print could bring a retest of $4,100. These are possibilities, not predictions.

India

Delhi 24K is about Rs 1,46,170 per 10g (Goodreturns). MCX December gold was Rs 1,42,421 at 9:02 AM IST. At a rupee of 94.49, import parity with 15% duty is about Rs 1,41,156 per 10g. Retail is therefore roughly 3.6% above parity, and MCX is about 0.9% above it. Dhanteras demand is high. The rupee opened 2 paise weaker at 94.49.

Gulf and Pakistan

At spot, 24K gold is about 477 AED per gram (AED pegged at 3.6725). In Pakistan, the sarafa rate is Rs 4,35,636 per tola. That is from Thursday and reflects the higher gold price. At spot and an interbank rate of about 276.6, the equivalent is near Rs 4,19,090 per tola. Expect the local rate to adjust lower.

How These Prices Are Calculated

Price per gram = spot price per ounce ÷ 31.1035 × exchange rate. For India, add 15% import duty, then 3% GST when you buy. For 22K, multiply the 24K price by 22/24; for 21K by 21/24; for 18K by 18/24. Read the full step-by-step guide: How Gold Price Is Calculated in India.

Gold Price in the USA

Gold trades in US dollars per troy ounce, so the live spot price at the top of this page is the US price. One troy ounce is 31.1035 grams, and one kilogram is about 32.15 troy ounces.

When you buy coins or bars from a US dealer, you pay a premium over spot. Small items such as one-ounce coins usually carry a bigger premium than large bars. Sales tax on bullion depends on your state, and many states exempt it. For federal tax, the IRS treats physical gold as a collectible, so long-term gains can be taxed at up to 28%.

Gold Price in the UK, Canada and Australia

UK: investment gold is exempt from VAT. Gold coins that are UK legal tender, such as Sovereigns and Britannias, are also free of capital gains tax, which is why they are popular with British buyers.

Canada: gold bars and coins of at least 99.5% purity are exempt from GST and HST. The Canadian dollar moves with oil prices, so the price in C$ can change even when the US price is flat.

Australia: investment-grade gold of 99.5% purity or more is GST-free. Australia is one of the world's largest gold producers, and the Perth Mint is its best-known refiner.

Gold Price in Singapore, Japan and China

Singapore: investment-grade gold bars and coins are exempt from GST, so prices sit close to spot. Japan: dealers quote yen per gram including 10% consumption tax, and a weak yen pushes the local price up. China: the Shanghai Gold Exchange sets the yuan price, which often trades at a premium or discount to London.

Why Gold Prices Differ Between Countries

  • Import duty: India charges 15% since May 13, 2026. The Gulf charges little or none, which is why Dubai gold is usually cheaper.
  • Currency: a weaker rupee or pound makes gold dearer there even when the dollar price is flat.
  • Taxes: GST in India, VAT in the Gulf and Europe, and none on investment bullion in some countries.
  • Making charges: jewellery always costs more than the bullion price.
