What Is the FX Rate Live Converter?
The FX Rate Live currency converter is a free online tool that shows you the real exchange rate between any two currencies, updated every single minute. It is built for one purpose: to give you the most accurate, unbiased rate possible so you always know what a fair currency exchange looks like before you approach a bank or transfer service.
Most currency converters you find online show inflated rates — rates that already include a bank or broker margin built in. Our converter shows only the mid-market rate: the exact midpoint between global buying and selling prices. This is the rate that financial institutions use when trading with each other. It is the fairest number you can find.
When you know the mid-market rate, you instantly have a benchmark. If your bank offers you a rate significantly lower than what our converter shows, you know you are being charged a large margin — and you can shop around for a better deal.
The mid-market rate is the halfway point between what buyers are paying for a currency and what sellers are accepting. No fees, no margins, no bank markup. It is the purest measure of a currency's current value. Use it as your starting point for any exchange comparison. The FX Rate Live converter shows this rate for 150+ pairs, updated every minute.
What Makes Our Converter Different
Most Used Currency Conversions
These are the currency pairs our readers convert most often. Click any pair to read the complete guide — including price history, what drives the rate, and practical tips for getting the best deal.
How to Use the Converter Effectively
Using the converter takes five seconds. Enter the amount you want to convert, select your source currency, select your target currency, and the result appears immediately. But getting the most out of it takes a little more knowledge.
Use It as a Benchmark Before Any Exchange
Before you visit a bank, travel money kiosk, or use a transfer app, check the mid-market rate on our converter first. Write it down or screenshot it. Then when the bank offers you their rate, you can immediately see how large their margin is. A good service charges 0.5–1% above mid-market. A poor one charges 4–6% or more.
Check It on the Day of Your Transfer
Rates change every minute. A rate you saw yesterday may be 0.5% different today. For large transfers — anything over $500 — always check the live rate on the day of your transfer. Even small movements matter when the amounts are significant.
Use Reverse Conversion to Verify Offers
If a money exchange service quotes you a price, use the reverse conversion to check. If they say “send $1,000 and your recipient gets ₹84,500”, divide 84,500 by 1,000 to get their effective rate of 84.5. If our converter shows 86.0, they are charging you a margin of 1.5 rupees per dollar — that is ₹1,500 on a $1,000 transfer. Knowing this gives you negotiating power.
