USD to INR Today: Live Dollar to Rupee Rate and NRI Rates by Country
By Om Kumar, Markets Editor · Analysis updated: 6 November 2026, 10:00 AM IST
The rupee just had its best month since February. For Indians living and working abroad, the bigger story is that every dollar, pound and dirham they send home still buys far more than it did a year ago.
The rupee opened almost flat at 94.49 per US dollar on 6 November 2026, after closing at 94.475 on Thursday.Key Takeaways
- Rupee at 94.95 per dollar, its strongest weekly close in a month but still near the May record low of 96.96.
- A $1,000 transfer now delivers about ₹6,260 more than it did on 31 October 2025.
- Oil is the swing factor: Brent touched $117.84 this week, which pushes India's dollar demand higher.
- RBI selling dollars is holding the line, but reserves have fallen for seven straight weeks.
Why It Matters: Your Money, One Year Later
Here is what the same transfer home was worth a year ago and what it is worth now, at mid-market rates before any bank margin.
| You send | 31 Oct 2025 | 30 Oct 2026 | Extra rupees |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | ₹88,690 | ₹94,950 | +₹6,260 |
| £1,000 | ₹1,16,705 | ₹1,27,090 | +₹10,385 |
| AED 1,000 | ₹24,150 | ₹25,854 | +₹1,704 |
| SAR 1,000 | ₹23,651 | ₹25,320 | +₹1,669 |
2025 values use the 31 October 2025 close of 88.69 per dollar (PTI) and that day's GBP/USD rate of 1.3159; Gulf values use their fixed dollar pegs.
The flip side: an Indian family paying a $40,000 US university fee now needs about ₹2.5 lakh more than a year ago, and a $3,000 holiday abroad costs roughly ₹18,800 extra.

Today's USD/INR Analysis: 6 November 2026
The rupee opened almost flat at 94.49 per US dollar on Friday, after closing at 94.475 on Thursday. It touched a two-week high of 94.32 on Thursday and is up about 0.5% this week.
My read: Two things that hurt the rupee for months are easing. Oil has fallen on hopes that the US midterm result will limit President Trump's room to continue the Iran conflict. And foreign investors bought a net $1.6 billion of Indian shares on Thursday, their biggest one-day purchase in nearly six years. The tech sell-off in the US is pushing money toward Indian equities. But the rupee still leans on RBI support, so I would not call this a trend yet.
What to watch today: US October jobs report at 7:00 PM IST. The market expects about 65,000 jobs. A strong number can lift the dollar. A weak one can cool talk of a December Fed hike.
Key levels
| Level | USD/INR | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Resistance 2 | 94.75 | Top of the range dealers expected on Thursday |
| Resistance 1 | 94.57 | Thursday's intraday high |
| Current | 94.49 | Friday's opening level |
| Support 1 | 94.32 | Two-week rupee high, hit on Thursday |
| Support 2 | 94.00 | Round number and bottom of dealers' range |
Scenarios, not forecasts: If oil stays soft and FPI buying continues, the rupee can test 94.32. If the jobs data lifts the dollar or oil bounces, 94.57 to 94.75 is possible.
For NRIs in the USA and Europe
One US dollar is about 94.48 rupees. The pound is near 126.85 rupees (GBP/USD about 1.343). The euro is near 105.77 rupees (EUR/USD about 1.120). The RBI/FBIL reference rates for 5 November were 94.40 (USD), 127.37 (GBP) and 106.33 (EUR). Fed rate-hike talk and the US jobs data may move the dollar today.
For NRIs in the Gulf
The UAE dirham is pegged at 3.6725 per dollar, so 1 AED is about 25.72 rupees. The Saudi riyal (3.75 peg) is about 25.19 rupees. The Qatari riyal (3.64 peg) is about 25.95 rupees. Because of the pegs, these move with USD/INR. FBIL's AED reference for 5 November was 25.70.

RBI Reference Rate vs Market Rate: Which One Do You Get?
You will often see slightly different numbers for the same day, and that confuses a lot of people. Here is the simple version:
- Market rate (interbank): the price banks trade at with each other. It changes every second during market hours, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM IST on weekdays.
- RBI / FBIL reference rate: one official number set around 1:00 PM IST each working day. On 30 October 2026 it was 95.2492. It is used for contracts, customs and accounting, not for your transfer.
- Your bank or app rate: the market rate minus a margin. That margin, plus any transfer fee, is the real cost of sending money.
How Much Does Your Bank Really Charge? Quick Calculator
You lose about ₹950 (1.0%) compared with the mid-market rate.
Check this before every transfer. A 1% margin on $5,000 is close to ₹4,750, which is real money.
What Moves the Dollar-Rupee Rate
Crude oil. India imports most of its oil and pays in dollars. When Brent rises, oil companies buy more dollars and the rupee weakens. This has been the single biggest driver in 2026. Read more in our guide on how crude oil moves the rupee.
The US Federal Reserve. Higher US interest rates make dollar assets more attractive and pull money out of India. Markets are watching whether the Fed raises rates again in December.
Foreign investor flows. When foreign funds sell Indian shares, they convert rupees back to dollars. October saw heavy selling.
The RBI. The central bank does not target a level, but it smooths sharp moves by buying or selling dollars from India's reserves. In October it also raised the repo rate to 5.50%, its first hike in nearly four years.
Gold. India is one of the world's largest gold buyers, so heavy festive buying also raises dollar demand. See today's gold price in 16 countries.
